Cross-cultural adaptation of the EFFECT questionnaire into Brazilian Portuguese

Abstract: Introduction: Clinical teaching is based on a real work environment, in professional practice settings, such as health services and units, under the supervision of preceptor. Providing medical teachers with an assessment their skills powerful tool for improving clinical learning students training. In this context, EFFECT (Evaluation Feedback Effective Teaching) questionnaire was developed by Dutch researchers 2012 teacher evaluation, being validated literature about workplace incorporates Canadian competency-based curriculum. Objective: To translate cross-culturally adapt into Brazilian Portuguese to validate evaluation Medical students. Method: Cross-cultural adaptation following steps: initial translation English version, synthesis translated versions, back-translation, creation consensual version Portuguese, adaptation, review, analysis content validity expert committee, pre-test retrospective clarification interview, reliability factorial internal consistency test (Cronbach’s alpha coefficient). Result: back-translation stages, disagreements were related use synonyms none items modified terms understanding, but context. The committee showed versions maintained semantic idiomatic equivalences content. Eighty-nine participated pre-test. excellent all domains, Cronbach’s coefficient ranging from 0.82 0.94. Conclusion: adapted equivalent original instrument has evidence high reliability, able constitute national evaluate efficiency medicine teaching.
